Industrial visit at Semiconductor laboratory Mohali & Chandigarh Smart City

Students and faculty embarked on an insightful industrial visit to SCL Mohali on February 27th, 2024, exploring semiconductor manufacturing processes. Similarly, the excursion to Chandigarh Smart City on March 15th, 2024, offered an exceptional chance to delve into urban planning advancements, including the crucial role of security cameras in bolstering public safety within the smart city infrastructure.

Inter Student Sports Meet (ISSM-2023)

C-DAC Mohali has organized its annual sports meet for the M.Tech Students and staff on 2nd November 2023.In the Sports meet number of Sports activities were conducted, it began with Marathon race of 3 Km headed by Director and HOD (C-DAC Mohali), Faculty members and all the students actively participated. Sport events were held in the spacious C-DAC grounds, the whole playground had been decorated with flags and banners. The chief guest was the Hon'ble Director of C-DAC Mohali and he inaugurated the program.

International course on IoT in Agriculture

In February 23 to March 22, 2023, ITEC hosted an international course on IoT in Agriculture, where participants from 12 countries were equipped with a profound understanding of agricultural automation using IoT technologies. Attendees gained insights into IoT and its programming interfaces crucial for various agricultural applications..

C-DAC Mohali has organized its annual sports meet and Cultural Night for the M.Tech Students and staff on 16th December 2021.In the Sports meet number of entertaining activities were conducted, it began with Marathon race of 3 Km headed by Director and HOD (C-DAC Mohali), Faculty members and all the students actively participated. Sport events were held in the spacious C-DAC grounds, the whole playground had been decorated with flags and banners. The chief guest was the Hon'ble Director of C-DAC Mohali and he inaugurated the program.

At night M.Tech Students and Staff showscast their talents in various cultural activites like dancing, singing, script, bhangra, gidda and many more on the Cultural Event.

Faculty Development Program on FUTURISTIC TRENDS IN FPGA & ASIC DESIGN

Faculty Development Program on “FUTURISTIC TRENDS IN FPGA & ASIC DESIGN” was sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and organised by C-DAC Mohali, from 09/12/2019 to 21/12/2019. The objective of this program was to discuss the latest trends and challenges faced by researchers in the VLSI Design.This Programme also addresses the challenges in the processing of large amount of data sets, this programme is designed for imparting training to Scientists and Technologist on the concepts of Big Data Management & Comprehensive Analysis.

Conference on AGRI-SMART 2018:Using IoT for driving Smart Agriculture

ASCD organized a two days conference on "AGRI-SMART 2018:Using IoT for driving Smart Agriculture" providing the platform amoung the scientist, industry and young researcher to share their work, knowledge and experience in the field of Smart Agricutlture. About 200 Particepants and experts shared their views about the existing and upcoming trends in Agriculture.

The annual Inter Students Sport Meet (ISSM) 2018 was organised by the ACS Divison at C-DAC Mohali. Over 100 students participated in the vent, which was flagged off by Sh. Vionod Kumar M, Senior Director CDAC and Centre Head, CDAC Mohali.

Faculty Development Program on VLSI Design

Faculty Development Program on “VLSI Devices and Technology” was organized by Electronics & ICT Academy IIT Roorkee in Association with C-DAC Mohali, from January 08, 2018 to January 12, 2018. The objective of this program was to provide thorough introduction to physics and fabrication of VLSI devices, including FinFETs and motivate faculty to use TCAD tools for device and process simulation. The experts from IIT Roorkee (Dr. Anand Bulusu & Dr. Arnab Datta) shared their expertise on the subject during this program. Sh. H. S. Jatana, Scientist 'G', from SCL Mohali, was the Chief Guest, as the program was attended by more than 30 participants including faculty, research scholars and students from all over India.

1st Workshop on Futuristic Trends of NanoElectronics, MEMS and NEMS

A first of its kind workshop on “Futuristic Trends of Nano-Electronics, MEMS and NEMS”, was organised by CDAC, Mohali, sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board(SERB). Sh. D.K. Jain, Director, C-DAC, Mohali talked about the relevance of the emerging technologies such as nano-electronisc, NEMS and MEMS in todays changing global landscape. Dr. Balwinder Singh, Workshop Convener highlighted the need of oragnising such workshop as he had been instrumental in designing the 2-day programme.

ACSD Convocation Ceremony

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Mohali organized its 1st convocation on 10th May, 2014 to award Master of Technology (M.Tech) degrees to over 50 students. Professor Arun Kumar Grover, Honourable Vice Chancellor Panjab University, Chandigarh, was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Sukhleen Bindra Narang, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, GNDU, Amritsar and Prof. Rajesh Khanna, Faculty of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Thapar University, Patiala, were the Guests of Honour. Sh. D.K. Jain, Director C-DAC Mohali welcomed the students and expressed his gratitude towards the guests. He shared the vibrant history and remarkable achievements of C-DAC till date. Professor Grover also proposed C-DAC to join hands with PU to promote technical education as it would be a combination of expert faculty at PU and Industrial experience of C-DAC. He also praised that C-DAC, Mohali has been a pioneer and one of its kind institutes in the northern sector in field of education and training.

Spoken Tutorial Workshop on Latex in Collaboration with IIT Bombay

ACSD has conducted a 2 hours Workshop on 2nd April, 2014 in association with Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay. The theme of the workshop was Free and Open Source Technical Writing using Software "LaTeX". This workshop was attended by students of M.Tech (Embedded Systems and EPDT). The Spoken Tutorial project is the initiative of the ‘Talk to a Teacher’ activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. Spoken tutorial is a video recording of computer session, through audio video means, spoken tutorial guides and instructs its users how to deploy and benefit from open source software. An expert explains the working of software, by demonstrating it on the screen, along with a running commentary. This workshop will greatly help students to accomplish their thesis documentation easily and intelligently.

Sports day is an important event in the life of every school or college. Sports in themselves are an indispensable part of the study. C-DAC mohali has organized its annual sports meet on 11th April, 2014. In the Sports meet number of entertaining activities were conducted, it began with Marathon race of 3Km headed by Director, C-DAC Mohali and HOD, Faculty members and all the students actively participated.

Sports events were held in the spacious C-DAC grounds,the whole playground had been decorated with flags and banners. The chief guest Director, C-DAC Mohali inaugurated the program and the sportsmen and women volunteers participated in the March past. The sports events were organized as:-

  • Boys Cricket Match
  • Badminton Match: Doubles and Mix Doubles
  • 100 Meter Race
  • 200 Meter Race
  • Table Tennis
  • Tug of War

The events which evoked the greatest interest were the Cricket match, Badminton match and Tug of war. After much competition, sports meet finally came to ground conclusion with closing ceremony. The sports meet closed with brief closing speech by Chief Guest and praised all participants for bringing “Sporting talent, Sportsmanship and Team work”. After the speech, the sports meet ended with the National Anthem.

Holi Celebration

ACSD has celebrated Holi on 12th March, 2014 which was organized by the students. Holi is a vivid festival of joy; Celebration began with brief opening speech by Director, C-DAC Mohali. The students and the faculty came together to ignite this beautiful festival. Faculty members and the students celebrated Holi by splashing flowers on each other followed by colors. “The event was a fantastic success and genuinely encompassed the jovial and open spirit that Holi aims to cultivate”. Indian culture is known for its colors and vibrancy and the celebration at C-DAC perfectly showcased this. It served as a valuable opportunity to show the students the real India and the unity and the fairness represented by this festival. The event also highlighted the important role played by Indian tradition in college life.

Teachers Day Celebration

The M.Tech Students at C-DAC Mohali showcased their love and respect for teachers in planning and organizing a surprise party on 5th September 2013. The main focus was to allow students to commemorate and appreciate what the teachers have done for them throughout their academic stint in C-DAC Mohali. All the teachers came together for the cake cutting ceremony and had a wonderful time together.

Workshop on Research Methodologies

A workshop on Research Methodologies was organized by ACSD from 20th to 21st September, 2013. M.Tech students and different department personal have attended the same. The 2 day program was inaugurated by Sh. J.S. Bhatia, Executive Director. Prof. Harmesh Kansal, UIET Chandigarh has given enlightened talk on Aspects and Applications of Research Methodologies. Expert Lecture on Technical Document Writing with LATEX was given by Dr. Ashish Singla, Thapar University, Patiala.

Induction program for newly Admitted M.Tech Students

Honorable Shri J.S.Bhatia, Executive Director addressed the newly admitted students on 21.08.2013 followed by Prof Rajneesh Arora ,Vice Chancellor, PTU Jalandhar. He emphasized on the the importance of VLSI / Embedded / Electronics Product Industry and its revenue growth for the last 45 years. He advised the students to take maximum benefit from C-DAC expertise and well qualified faculty. He also appraised the M.Tech programs being run at C-DAC, Mohali.

Faculty Training program

ACSD has conducted a two week Advanced Faculty Training (AFT) program on “VLSI Design and Embedded System” for engineering faculty was conducted by C-DAC, Mohali from 17th -29th June, 2013 which was supported by Department of Electronics & IT (DeitY), Government of India. More than 25 faculty participants benefited from the program who hailed from several states across the country – Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajastan, Himachal Pradesh, J & K and Uttarakand.

Prof. M.K. Surappa, Director, IIT Ropar and Prof. Renu vig, Director UIET, Chandigarh were the chief guests of the programme. They addressed the gathering and highly appreciated the initiative of ACSD, C-DAC Mohali in conducting such a program. This is the need of the modern era she said for the upliftment of the faculty community.

Sh. J.S. Bhatia, Executive Director C-DAC, Mohali, Sh. D.K. Jain, Associate Director C-DAC, Mohali and Sh. H.S. Jatana, Director SCL Mohali were the guests of honour. Expert lectures were delivered by distinguished resource persons from the industries and academia namely Sh. H.S. Jatana, Director of SCL Mohali and Dr. Kamaljit Singh from SCL Mohali, Prof. Shambi and Dr. Rohit Kumar from IIT Ropar, Dr. Dilbag Singh from NIT Jalandhar and C-DAC Mohali faculty.
